Junior Lifeguards 2022!

Greetings Junior Lifeguard Family! With the new year officially upon us, we're actively planning our programs for the summer of 2022!  This summer, we're looking to offer 8 one week sessions at Crown Beach, Contra Loma and Cull Canyon, Shadow Cliffs and Lake Anza. Session dates, sizes and themes are still in the works. As always though, our goal is to run a safe, fun, educational program for your kids! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out directly.  Stay safe and see you all soon!

Cadet Program Overview

Program Description:
This is the perfect program if you want to train like a lifeguard. Maybe you’re too old for Junior Lifeguards or maybe you were in the Aide program and are now looking for a challenge…. Then the Junior Cadet program is for you! This is for ages 14-17. The Cadet program will challenge you physically and mentally. You will be training like a lifeguard. Under the supervision of a veteran lifeguard, Junior Cadets will be challenged to complete long distance swims and paddles, in-depth skill practice, training with the lifeguard staff, lots of physical training, and gain insider knowledge of how to become an EBRPD lifeguard. If you hope to become a lifeguard one day, this is THE program you want to be in!

FAQ

Hi!

Welcome to our Junior Lifeguard 2013 program! Below is some helpful information that you might need for this program:

Do I have to buy a uniform?
Yes. All Junior Lifeguards are required to wear a full uniform consisting of blue swim trunks, JG shirt, and JG hat. These can be purchased when registering on-line or in-person. The full uniform set costs $40. Girls must wear a blue one-piece.

What is the American Red Cross Certification offered?
Every session offers a different certification. The cost is $20. Interested individuals should pay for the certification fee during registration.  Those who do not pay during registration must bring a check made out to E.B.R.P.D by the 2nd day of the session (only checks accepted). The curriculum in each session will prepare Junior Lifeguards to pass the American Red Cross skill check-off associated with the certification. Junior Lifeguards will receive their American Red Cross certification card in late August or early September.

What are the Session Wrap-Up videos?
At the end of each week, an email will be sent out containing a link to a video slideshow that has pictures from each facility taken during the session. Please watch and share with family and friends!

Can you tell me about the potluck?
Junior Lifeguards celebrate the last day of the session with a potluck. JG’s are often asked to bring an item(s) and/or $1-$5 to share on Friday. Please ask your Instructor for more details.

Who gets the commemorative pins?

Junior Lifeguards who are “full-day” participants receive a pin for that session. Each session’s pin is different. This year we have updated all of the pins! Try and earn them all!

How is the JG of the Week chosen?
Instructors choose a JG who is an enthusiastic learner and participant, can follow directions, and is kind to everyone.

Who can I contact if any issues come up?
Please call or email the Programs Coordinator with any questions or concerns regarding the Junior Lifeguard program or Aide program.

Thanks for joining us, and have a great summer!
